Day 1 – The Initial Examination and
Testing
Following an extensive health history and personal golf playing history, your
swing will be analyzed with 2-Dimensional and 3-Dimensional video to identify
swing faults and breakdowns in performance which affect consistency, power,
trajectory and distance. You will then be run through an extensive physical
examination process which will incorporate orthopaedic, neurological and
functional testing to analyze posture, mobility, stability, balance, physical
weaknesses and physical strengths. Testing will also identify any ingrained
neurological movement patterns and muscular sequencing patterns that inhibit
performance and drain power in your golf swing.
3D Video Analysis:
Our goal is not to direct you to copy any particular swing. There are almost as
many swing styles as there are golfers. The same holds true on the PGA tour.
Advanced diagnostic 3D technology, however, has established one consistency
amongst all elite golfers; a “Kinetic Link”. The Kinetic
Link is the Bio-Mechanical signature of efficient movement and power
generation in the golf swing.
A 3
Dimensional Analysis
tells us how a golfer's body is moving during their golf swing
and allows us to objectively assess where biomechanical break down in the
movement pattern is creating compensations and how such compensations are
effecting golf swing performance and increasing injury potential.
The entire examination process will take
about an hour.
Day 2 – The Report of Findings
On day 2 you will receive a written report that
outlines the key areas of concern from your Initial Examination. Your Report
will include recommendations to eliminate physical performance barriers which
limit your game and make you susceptible to injury. The recommendations will
outline and demonstrate key exercises necessary to improve your Kinetic
Link. Your report will also include the frame by frame analysis of your
swing in comparison to the optimal models on the PGA tour.
A report will be prepared and provided to
your golf coach if requested.
Day 2 will take about 30 minutes.
OUR PURPOSE:
Ultimately our purpose is to determine if any of the breakdowns in your swing
are related to physical limitations or weaknesses and to develop a personal and
Golf-Specific Physical Performance Program. Our perspective it that golf should
be treated as sport not just a game. Thus like every other sport in the world
the primary focus of an athlete is to improve physical capacity (health and
fitness levels) to enhance performance.
Golf Performance Enhancement Program
A Golf Performance Enhancement Program is a Personalized Performance and
Health Enhancement Program designed to specifically address the needs of a
golfer. The program will eliminate any physical limitations, which increase the
potential for injury and inhibit performance. The program will also enhance the
physical strengths associated with performance increase in the sport of golf.
You will develop and enhance:
Balance Posture
Mobility Stability
Endurance
Nutrition Coordination Power
Golf Training Sessions Include:
1. Supervised
Golf Exercise Circuit - The
doctor will customize a personal physical rehabilitation program that will
strengthen your body’s capacity to perform on the golf course and stabilize your
physique to ensure pain free golf for life. An exercise circuit includes
multiple devices and movements used specifically to develop proper golf swing
mechanics.
2. Exercise
Program Updates – During each visit all of your
current exercises and drills will be re-evaluated and updated with more advanced
exercises.
3. Video
Re-Evaluations – We use the GASP lab digital video
system which will be used regularly to constantly provide feedback as to what
swing changes that are being made in each phase of your program.
4. Personalized
Manual Treatments – Like your own personal team of
physicians and therapists we will help rebuild and restructure your own
physical design. We will breakdown any hidden barriers like muscular
restrictions or joint limitations, and help you swing like a pro.
PREPARATION:
When you come for your examination please
bring flexible workout clothing and your 5 iron. If possible light colored
clothing is better for the filming process. You will be hitting balls so bring
appropriate footwear, your gloves and any other equipment that you use when
playing golf. To further facilitate your examination and save you time you can
email
docfletch@thinkcore.ca and we will forward you the necessary paper work for
you to complete prior to your arrival.
WHO IS THIS FOR:
Clients range from tour golf professionals
to beginning amateurs. The answer of whether this is for you, is not dependent
upon your skill level, it is dependent upon your desire to play better golf and
to play it pain free for life.
